MTO WA MBU TOUR: WHAT TO EXPECT,
You’ll discover the various uses for various bananas and have the chance to sample Tanzania’s very own banana brews at a nearby brewery run by the Chagga tribe.
We also learn about some other special professions and crafts that are only done by a few tribes in Tanzania, such as the Makonde tribe’s proficiency with wood carving. In order to gain a feel for daily life in Tanzania, you’ll also get the opportunity to visit a nearby church and school.

After lunch, your driver will take you up Balaa Hill to the top of the Rift Valley wall for panoramic views of Lake Manyara, Mto wa Mbu, and the Maasai Steppe. This is an easy half-hour walk on difficult terrain to a beautiful viewpoint; don’t forget to bring your camera! The trek allows you to witness a wide variety of local bird species as well as the spectacular 2,000-year-old baobab trees.
Your Mto wa Mbu Village trip concludes here, and we can either bring you back to Arusha or you can remain locally and continue your journey. We recommend bringing cash, a camera, sunscreen, and a hat.
