21 Days Tanzania Safari
Stone Town

Spice Tour: Zanzibar was once renowned as the Spice Island, exporting cloves, vanilla, nutmeg, and cardamom all over the world. Originally transported over from Asia and South America, the spices thrived in the tropical atmosphere. Presently, the plantations remain a testament to the island’s past, and while they are no longer a primary industry, they are a fascinating tourist destination and a sensory delight. Your guide will lead you through the spice farm. Feel, smell, and taste various spices and tropical fruits. Attempt to figure out which is which from the crushed leaves, fruit, shoots, vines, and creepers climbing the trees.

Learn about their qualities, origins, and applications as medicines and in food and beverages. A tour to a spice farm hamlet provides a glimpse into local life as well as the opportunity to sample some authentic Swahili meals, seasonal fruits, and spiced tea. Depending on the season, you can find vanilla, cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg, turmeric, lemongrass, cloves, cumin, garlic, ginger, coriander, pepper, allspice, tamarind, jackfruit, custard fruit, orange, star fruit, banana, pineapple, tangerine, passion fruit, mango, avocado, pear, papaya, grapefruit, and a variety of other flavors.
