Aside from the crowded northern circuit, Nyerere provides a perfect experience for wildlife tours. One can commonly see giraffes, hippos, buffaloes, wildebeests, lions, hyenas, elephants, and even spotted black rhinos at Nyerere National Park.
A DETAILED ITINERARY: 2 DAYS NYERERE NATIONAL PARK SAFARI
Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Nyerere National Park
Pickup in the morning from the heart of Dar es Salaam, travel to Nyerere National Park with a picnic lunch, and boat safari down the magnificent Rufiji River in the late afternoon. Jimbiza Camp hosts dinner and overnight stays. By boat, you can explore the Rufiji River and see lots of hippos and crocodiles. The Selous Game Reserve has records for 350 different bird species.
Day 2: Nyerere National Park to Dar es Salaam
Proceed on a game drive with a picnic lunch after an early breakfast. Head to the main center of Dar es Salaam in the afternoon. Depending on the traffic, arrive at around 7:00 p.m. or later. With a land area of 54,600 square kilometers, Nyerere National Park (Selous Game Reserve) is the biggest in Africa. Lions, wild dogs, buffaloes, bushbucks, impalas, elands, baboons, zebras, and bigger kudus are some animals that are frequently spotted. It was originally designated as a hunting area because the wildlife there is more numerous but more wary than in the Northern Parks. 4×4 vehicle excursions give you the ability to visit various areas of the sizable park and provide excellent photographic opportunities.
