5 Days Affordable Tanzania Camping Safari : In order to properly appreciate three of Tanzania’s national parks at a leisurely pace, with plenty of time for game drives and good possibilities of seeing all five members of Tanzania’s Big Five, a 5-days Camping safari is the ideal length of time. First, take in Tarangire National Park, which is renowned for its magnificent Baobab trees and herbivore population and where you may see animals like zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, and elephants, as well as other famous species. If you visit Tarangire in the dry season, the wildlife congregates around the Tarangire River, making elephant herds easy to see.

From there, you can visit the renowned Serengeti, which is the setting for the historic wildebeest migration. It’s a sizable park, so we’ve allocated two days to completely explore it. The Serengeti is renowned for its abundance of predators as well as its migration. We go on from the Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Crater, where, with any hope, the Crater Lions will put on a fantastic show for you. Finally, take in the breathtaking scenery and baboons at Lake Manyara, a shallow body of water in the Rift Valley.
This 5-day Tanzania camping safari is a cost-effective package that enables you to see a variety of wildlife in Lake Manyara, Serengeti National Park, and the Ngorongoro Crater. It also includes cultural experiences that include Masai and Bushmen visits to Lake Eyasi and the Ngorongoro Highlands. For families, friends, and groups, we primarily provide private, inexpensive camping safaris in Tanzania that are more pleasurable, flexible, and fun at reasonable costs. Your five-day Tanzanian camping safari will begin between 8:00 and 8:30 in the morning. To give you an opportunity to make any last-minute purchases before traveling to Lake Manyara National Park, the driving route goes through the town of Arusha.

A DETAILED ITINERARY: 5 DAYS TANZANIA CAMPING SAFARI ITINERARY
Day 00: Arrival in Arusha
- Distance: 30/50 km
This 5-day camping safari in Tanzania begins when we greet you at Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport and take you to Runako Lodge in Arusha. Later in the day, our safari manager will arrive for a safari briefing before leaving you to enjoy the attractive lodge’s facilities for the remainder of the day. Dinner and breakfast are included.
- Overnight at Runako Lodge in Arusha City
Day 1: Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park, and Lake Eyasi (or Tarangire)
After breakfast, meet your safari driver guide and begin the safari, stopping first in Arusha town for any last-minute shopping. Then proceed to Lake Manyara National Park. This lovely park, nestled at the base of the Great Rift Valley, is endowed with many overlapping ecosystems, marshes, and a lake. All of this provides habitat for several animal and bird species. The park’s highlights include a large number of baboons found nowhere else in the world, Lake Manyara tree-climbing lions, and massive flocks of flamingos. Expect to see giraffes, zebras, elephants, wildebeests, hippos, buffalo, and predators such as leopards, hyenas, jackals, and a plethora of bird species.
In the afternoon, travel to Lake Eyasi for a cultural experience. The drive up and through the Great East African Rift Valley takes around 1.5 hours to reach Lake Eyasi. When you arrive, you will be welcomed by the Datoga tribe, who will show you around their dwellings and allow you to interact with them and ask as many questions as you like. After seeing the blacksmith, you will continue for a sunset walk around the lakeshore before going to the campsite for dinner and overnight.
- All meals included: breakfast, lunch, and dinner
- Overnight at lake Eyasi Bushman Campsite, close to the lake
Day 2: Lake Eyasi to Serengeti National Park

On this day, we will take you on an early morning hunt with Hadzabe, the Bushmen, using bows and arrows and including survival skills training. Bushmen near Lake Eyasi are organized into three clans: Hadzabe, Tindiga, and Datoga, who hunt and gather eggs, wild fruits, and root tubers in the same way that Stone Age humans did. After the hunt, you will return to your campsite for a full breakfast before departing for the huge Serengeti grasslands via the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Your 5-Day Tanzania Camping Safari continues as you drive to Serengeti National Park, passing through the stunning high-lying farms of Karatu and up to the Ngorongoro Crater. After checking in, you will travel up and around the rim of the crater. You will make a brief halt at the crater’s view point to take some shots. On the route, you will stop at a Masai village for a deeper cultural experience; the Masai worrier will invite you and lead you in and around their houses, where you may meet kids and other family members, ask questions, and take pictures with them. Later, they will sing and dance to their favorite tunes, which will include high jumping. You are welcome to join in the dance if you so desire.
After that, drive down into the “wild Africa” Serengeti National Park, with its infinite rolling grasslands. When traveling to the Central Serengeti area known as Seronera, stop for a picnic lunch near Naabi Hills Gate or at the kopjes (rocky outcroppings). This is one of the park’s richest wildlife habitats, supplied by the Seronera River, a valuable water supply in this area that attracts a large quantity of wildlife from all over the Serengeti. Afternoon game drive to look for big cats and the Great Serengeti Wildebeest Migration (depending on your vacation dates) Drive to your campsite in the late afternoon, before or during twilight, for dinner and overnight.
- All meals included: breakfast, lunch, and dinner
- Overnight at Seronera Public Campsite in Central Serengeti
Day 3: Full-day game drive in Serengeti
We take you on an early morning game drive with a packed breakfast and lunch box on this day of your 5-day Tanzania camping safari in the huge Serengeti grasslands. An early morning game drive allows you to see several cat families on the road as they try to avoid the morning mist. Other nocturnal predators returning after a long night of hunting, like a group of lionesses planning a morning ambush or feasting along the road, may also be seen. Later, stop for breakfast somewhere in the bush, and if the Great Wildebeest Migration is packed in the Serengeti, which you will already know, you will start early and go straight to where they are in anticipation of witnessing some animal behaviors such as fighting, hunting, eating, and even killing.
Predators such as lions, leopards, hyenas, cheetahs, jackals, and others are common. Buffalo, elephants, giraffes, warthogs, zebras, and other antelopes can also be spotted roaming the Serengeti plains. Drive back to the campsite in the late afternoon, around or before dark, for dinner and overnight.
- All meals included: breakfast, lunch, and dinner
- Overnight at Seronera Public Campsite in Central Serengeti
Day 4: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Your time in the Serengeti is coming to an end today, so if you’d like, you may go on one more early morning game drive and spend a lot of time there. After that, you can enjoy an early hot lunch before leaving for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Arriving at Ngorongoro for a beautiful sunset on the crater rim, followed by dinner and an overnight stay
- All meals included: breakfast, lunch, and dinner
- Overnight at the Ngorongoro Simba Public Campsite at the Crater Rim
Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
The final day of your 5-days camping safari in Tanzania will begin with an early breakfast before you descend into the Ngorongoro Crater floor for an amazing game drive (a picnic lunch will be served on the Crater floor). You may expect to see herds of African elephants, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hippos, and the rare black rhinos in their native environment because only a small number of animals travel in and out of the Crater with its 600-meter-high walls.
The greater density of predators in this large caldera, including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the notoriously elusive leopard, which can often only be seen with binoculars, is another major allure.
You will go to Lake Magadi, a sizable but shallow salt lake that is frequently frequented by flamingo flocks and other avian visitors on the southwest corner of the crater floor. Around the lake, you can also view some hippos and other wildlife.
Drive out of the crater and return to Arusha in the late afternoon to be dropped off at the Kilimanjaro International Airport. (Accommodation on this day might be included upon request at extra cost.)
